Lime Rock Park Teams Up With Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

LAKEVILLE, CT—The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has been selected as Lime Rock Park’s official charity for this year’s season, announced Lime Rock Park President Skip Barber.
“Each year, Lime Rock Park selects an official charity to support throughout the year and we’re pleased to select The Michael J. Fox Foundation as this year’s benefactor,” Barber said. “This charity is especially near and dear to our hearts, as our good friend and former race car driver Sam Posey has Parkinson’s. Sam has been a champion, not only on the track, but as an advocate for finding a cure for the disease. Through our fundraising efforts this year, we hope to have an impact on the lives of all of those who urgently need a cure, including Sam.”
As the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’s research, MJFF is dedicated to finding a cure for the more than 6 million people worldwide who live with Parkinson’s disease. Since inception in 2000, the Foundation has funded more than $800 million in high-impact research around the world.
“The Michael J. Fox Foundation is looking forward to the day when we can close our doors because a cure has been found,” said Deborah W. Brooks, Michael J. Fox Foundation co-founder and executive vice chairman. “Supportive partners, like Lime Rock, allow us to do more in our urgent pursuit of finding new therapies and speeding a cure for the millions of families touched by Parkinson’s disease.”
As part of the Park’s year-long fundraising efforts, all proceeds from the Sunday Royals Car Show, held on May 27,2018, in conjunction with the Royals Garage of Torrington, Conn., have been donated to the Foundation’s grassroots fundraising community, Team Fox, where 100 percent of donations will go directly to fueling critical Parkinson’s research.
