The car was one of 10 2900B models built atop the long-wheelbase “Lungo” chassis, and one of five bodied as a Berlinetta — in aluminum over a tubular steel frame — by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. It won the Most Elegant Closed Car award at the 2001 event, and had recently been restored to its 1938 Berlin Motor Show appearance.
Pebble Beach, CA — An early production 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta owned by David and Ginny Sydorick of Beverly Hills won its class on the way to being named Best of Show at Sunday’s Pebble Beach Concours.
Held on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, the concours drew 209 cars from 17 countries and 31 states. It also raised $1.8 million that will benefit more than 80 charities that serve children in Monterey County.
