Phoenix, AZ — The inaugural Stars Across the Desert Gary Sinise Foundation Hero Drive to SEMA (Nov. 3-4) will feature driving demonstrations, a meet-and-greet with Sinise and a charity fundraising dinner at the Bondurant High Performance Driving School on Sunday before the Hero Drive to the SEMA Show begins at 10 a.m. Monday.
It was Sinise’s role as Lt. Dan in the movie Forrest Gump that prompted him to start a charity to support veterans, first responders and their families in 2011. The Bondurant School recently announced the Gary Sinise Foundation as its official non-profit partner.
“We share Gary’s vision that everyone can always do just a little more for those who have done so much for all of us,” said Franki Buckman, CEO of the Bondurant High Performance Driving School. “Dodge and our staff, as well as all of our partners, are thrilled to welcome Gary to the school, to recognize our veterans and to meet the local enthusiasts and supporters who want to contribute to the ultimate goal of raising $250,000 for this event.”
As part of the activities, a selected group of veterans will drive the Bondurant track and the Hero drive to Las Vegas in the new patriotic Stars and Stripes Dodge SRT Charger. Donors can sponsor drivers, pledge per mile or give a one-time or recurring donation online.
Other events, including the Nov. 3 meet-and-greet with Sinise at 4 p.m., and the dinner to benefit his foundation that follows at 5:30, require pre-registration. Contact the Bondurant High Performance Driving School at 480-403-7600 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
