MSHFA Hosting Dec. 28 Event with Land Speed Record-Setter Danny Thompson

Daytona Beach, FL — The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA) Museum at Daytona International Speedway announced Monday (Dec. 23) that the public is invited to a Dec. 28 event, An Evening with Danny Thompson, set for 6-8 p.m. EST.

In addition to an opportunity to meet and talk with the piston-powered land speed record-setter, attendees will be treated to Thompson’s heartwarming presentation on the speed-fueled relationship he had with his father, Mickey Thompson, a 1990 MSHFA inductee.

“I’m telling the story of my father and me and a whole lot of work,” Thompson said of his presentation. “But it worked, we made it happen and we’re still smiling.”

Included in the presentation will be footage of Thompson’s wild, record-setting 448.757 mph run at the Bonneville Salt Flats, shown in the Hall of Fame’s big-screen Petersen Theater. Thompson will sign autographs and attendees can tour the museum and see Mickey Thompson’s Challenger I and Danny’s Challenger II together for possibly the last time ever, as the latter is going to auction immediately following the event.

“Beyond speed and horsepower, this is a story about love and family, loss and redemption, and a son turning a father’s lifelong dream into a reality,” said MSHFA President George Levy.

Buy tickets online or call MSHFA at 386-681-6843 for $20 advance tickets, which will go for $25 at the door. Kids under 12 are free with an adult.
