“Each of these cars is special in its own right,” concours chair Sandra Button said in a news release. “Many were the epitome of elegance in their day, or they exhibited the latest technology. They made history when new — and they also made history right here by winning the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.”

The Best of Show class could include “a multitude” of past winners among the 200 concours vehicles on display for the Aug. 16 event on the 18th fairway of the Pebble Beach Golf Club on the Monterey Peninsula.

Other features include 90 Years of Pininfarina and Porsche 917 race cars. The concours utilizes a well-respected system of choosing vehicles for what is considered the most prestigious such event in the United States, and among the top in the world. About 1,000 potential concours entries are vetted by a group of 15 automotive experts to select the 200 accepted for the show. Entry applications for 2020 are due Jan. 6. Did you know that fully a third of the field each year consists of first-time entries?
