London, ENGLAND — RM Sotheby’s is working with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to host a June 15-22 online auction of items donated by drivers and race teams from around the world, with all proceeds going to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The auction follows an initial donation of 1 million Euro from the FIA Foundation to the IFRC to kick-start the fundraising process.
Among the notable early consignments are:
• Formula 1 champion Damon Hill’s helmet and race suit from the 1995 season when he won the Australian Grand Prix.
• The race suit from nine-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, worn during the last race of his career — the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo 2014 — where he took third overall.
