8/18/2013 - Concorso Italiano Makes Move to Saturday and New Location in 2014

Monterey, Ca - Concorso Italiano announced that its 29th annual event will move to a new day and location in 2014, exiting Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, the present location that created terrible gridlock on the Monterey-Salinas Highway, since vintage racing fans enter Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca's main entrance a short distance from the Golf Ranch.

Next year's event will be held Saturday, Aug. 16 at Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, which hosted Concorso from 2002-07. Traffic problems also surfaced at that location but nothing like the quagmire that has developed the last few years on Hwy. 68.

This will also give enthusiasts who presently attend The Quail In Carmel Valley on Friday a chance to visit Concorso, which is a celebration of Italian style, since it no longer has to share the day with The Quail. Organizers claim the event draws about 8,000 people every year.

"We're very excited about working with Bayonet Black Horse and the City of Seaside again," said Concorso Italiano president Tom McDowell in a statement. "We look forward to bringing the event back to its roots of sorts, and anyone who attended Concorso Italiano at Black Horse can attest to its natural beauty and expansive views of Monterey Bay."

Next year's show will honor Maserati's 100th anniversary.

The Concorso Italiano also announced that it will expand into Southern California, adding Desert Concorso: Classic and European Sports Cars in Palm Desert, CA on March 30, 2014. That event will be held in conjunction with Fashion Week El Paseo.
