10/7/2013 - Assembly Line 100th Anniversary
Today, Oct 7, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henry Ford's moving assembly line for the production of the Model T. He launched it on this day in Highland Park, Michigan.
Ropes pulled cars along the first assembly line, which featured 84 distinct steps. The dramatic improvement in efficiency enabled Ford to lower the selling price from $850 to just less than $300.
So why isn't Google celebrating this today in their logo, since it meant a remarkable and positive change in mobility for people around the world?
