The car was one of 10 2900B models built atop the long-wheelbase “Lungo” chassis, and one of five bodied as a Berlinetta — in aluminum over a tubular steel frame — by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. It won the Most Elegant Closed Car award at the 2001 event, and had recently been restored to its 1938 Berlin Motor Show appearance.

Held on the 18th fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links, the concours drew 209 cars from 17 countries and 31 states. It also raised $1.8 million that will benefit more than 80 charities that serve children in Monterey County.
