London, ENGLAND — Among the highlights of RM Sotheby’s online July 14-21 Open Roads European Summer auction is the Richoz Collection, a group of eight road and track cars assembled by former Formula 3 racer Edgar Richoz.
The late collector took 10 victories in the 1973 F3 season behind the wheel of a Brabham BT28. After he left racing, Richoz furthered the success of his family’s car dealership in Switzerland.
Leading the collection’s motorsport representation is the Jean Rondeau-built 1976 Inaltera LM GTP, a T-car in the 1976 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and that ran well in the 1977 24 Hours of Daytona before a suspension issue forced it to retire. The car went on to take first in GTP class win and 4th overall in the 1977 Le Mans contest in the hands of French racing drivers Henri Pescarolo, Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Jean Rondeau.
Other headliners in the collection include a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Alloy by Scaglietti — featuring factory-fitted electric windows, original interior, manuals and tool kit — that is one of just 60 Alloy variants of the model. It’s joined by a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona; a 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB (one of 387 examples); and a matching-numbers 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2.
